Gestion des moyens de rétention au service de l’esthétique en ? prothèse amovible partielle métallique (PAPM)

Résumé

La gestion du paramètre esthétique constitue une véritable problématique en prothèse amovible partielle métallique (PAPM). En effet, dès lors que l’édentation intéresse des secteurs apparents au sourire, allier exigences biomécaniques et exigences esthétiques devient un objectif difficile à atteindre. Le praticien doit alors réduire la visibilité des éléments métalliques sans nuire à la rétention prothétique. Le choix d’un axe d’insertion adéquat, l’utilisation de moyens de rétention appropriés à la situation clinique ainsi que la conception raisonnée du tracé du châssis métallique constituent des facteurs essentiels à maîtriser pour garantir l’intégration esthétique des PAPM.

Management retention means in the aesthetic success of the removable partial denture

Managing the aesthetic parameter is a huge problem in the removable partial denture rehabilitation. Indeed, when the edentulism is situated in the visible areas, biomechanical requirements – necessary to attend the prosthetic balance – and aesthetic requests are goals hard to achieve. The practitioner must reduce the visibility of metal parts without damaging the prosthetic retention. The choice of a suitable path of insertion, the use of appropriate means of retention according to the clinical situation, and the rational cast framework design, are key factors to control and to ensure the aesthetic integration of removable partial denture.
